How to Manage Club Holidays
Holidays in Rostered mark dates when your club doesn't hold events. This guide explains how to create and manage holidays and how they affect your schedule.
Viewing Club Holidays
- Navigate to your club dashboard.
- Click Holidays in the sidebar.
- The page lists all configured holidays with:
- Holiday name
- Date range
- Actions (Edit, Delete)
Holidays also appear on the calendar in orange.
Creating Holidays
- From the Holidays page, click Add Holiday.
- Enter the holiday details:
- Name - Descriptive name (e.g., "Thanksgiving Break", "Winter Holiday")
- Start Date - First day of the holiday
- End Date - Last day of the holiday (same as start for single-day holidays)
- Click Save to create the holiday.
Single-Day Holidays
For holidays that are just one day:
- Set the Start Date and End Date to the same date.
- Example: Memorial Day - Start: May 26, End: May 26
Multi-Day Holidays
For breaks spanning multiple days:
- Set the Start Date to the first day of the break.
- Set the End Date to the last day of the break.
- Example: Winter Break - Start: December 23, End: January 2
How Holidays Affect Scheduling
Creating Events on Holidays
When you try to create an event on a holiday date:
- Rostered shows a warning that the date falls on a holiday.
- You can choose to:
- Cancel - Go back and select a different date
- Create Anyway - Proceed with creating the event
This prevents accidentally scheduling practices during breaks.
Existing Events
If events already exist when you create a holiday:
- After saving the holiday, you'll see a list of conflicts.
- You can choose to:
- Keep events - Leave them as scheduled
- Cancel events - Mark conflicting events as cancelled
- Select which events to cancel if any.
Calendar Display
- Holidays appear as orange bars on the calendar.
- Click a holiday to go to the Holidays page.
- Use the filter bar to show/hide holidays on the calendar view.
Editing Holidays
- Find the holiday in the list.
- Click Edit (pencil icon).
- Update the name or dates.
- Save your changes.
note
Editing a holiday's dates may create new conflicts with existing events. You'll be prompted to review any conflicts.
Deleting Holidays
- Find the holiday in the list.
- Click Delete (trash icon).
- Confirm the deletion.
Deleting a holiday:
- Removes it from the calendar
- Does not affect any events
- Previously cancelled events remain cancelled

Consider adding these holidays based on your region and sport:
US Holidays
- New Year's Day
- Martin Luther King Jr. Day
- Presidents' Day
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving (typically includes the following Friday)
- Winter Break (Christmas through New Year's)
School Breaks
- Spring Break
- Teacher In-Service Days
- Parent-Teacher Conference Days
Regional/Local
- State holidays
- Local observances
- School district specific breaks
Holiday Best Practices
At Season Start
- Add all known holidays for the season.
- Include school breaks relevant to your athletes.
- This prevents scheduling conflicts before they happen.
When Creating Holidays Mid-Season
- Review the conflicts shown after saving.
- Decide which events should be cancelled.
- Communicate any schedule changes to families.
Recurring Annual Holidays
Currently, holidays are created per-season:
- Re-create holidays each season as needed
- Date accuracy is important (holidays like Thanksgiving change each year)
