How to Customize Your Athlete's Profile

As a guardian, you can personalize your athlete's profile in the Rostered app. This includes setting a nickname, choosing a profile color, and adding a photo.

Accessing the Edit Screen

  1. Open the Rostered app and go to the Family tab.
  2. Tap on your athlete's card to open their detail screen.
  3. Look for the edit button near the athlete's name in the header.
  4. Tap the edit button to open the Edit Athlete screen.

Changing the Athlete Nickname

The nickname appears in various places throughout the app as a friendlier alternative to the full name.

  1. On the Edit Athlete screen, find the Nickname section.
  2. Tap on the text field.
  3. Enter your preferred nickname (for example, "Danny" instead of "Daniel").
  4. The nickname can be up to 50 characters.
  5. Leave the field empty if you prefer to display the full name everywhere.

The nickname will show instead of the full name in places like the Family tab athlete cards.

Setting the Athlete Color

The profile color appears as a colored border or background on your athlete's card, making it easy to distinguish between multiple athletes at a glance.

  1. On the Edit Athlete screen, scroll to the Profile Color section.
  2. You will see a grid of color options.
  3. Tap on a color to select it.
  4. A checkmark will appear on the selected color.

Available colors include:

  • Pink
  • Purple
  • Deep Purple
  • Indigo
  • Blue
  • Cyan
  • Teal
  • Green
  • Orange
  • Deep Orange
  • Red
  • Brown

This is especially helpful for families with multiple athletes - assigning each child a different color makes it quick to identify their information.

Updating the Athlete Photo

A profile photo helps coaches and other parents identify your athlete.

  1. On the Edit Athlete screen, find the photo section.
  2. You will see options to:
    • Choose Photo: Select an existing photo from your phone's photo library
    • Take Photo: Use your phone's camera to capture a new photo
  3. After selecting or taking a photo, it will be uploaded automatically.
  4. The new photo will appear in the athlete's profile header.

Removing a Photo

If you want to remove the current photo:

  1. On the Edit Athlete screen, look for the option to delete the photo.
  2. Confirm that you want to remove it.
  3. The profile will show the athlete's initials on the colored background instead.

Previewing Your Changes

As you make changes on the Edit Athlete screen:

  • The header at the top shows a live preview of how the athlete card will look.
  • You can see the nickname, color, and photo updates in real-time before saving.

Saving Your Changes

  1. After making your desired changes, tap the checkmark or Save button in the top right corner.
  2. Your changes are saved and you will return to the athlete detail screen.
  3. The updated profile will be visible immediately.

To cancel without saving, tap the close button (X) in the top left corner.

Tips for Athlete Profiles

  • Photos: A clear, recent headshot works best. The photo will be cropped to a circle.
  • Colors: Choose different colors for siblings to quickly identify each child's activities.
  • Nicknames: Keep nicknames brief and recognizable to coaches.
